Dr. Honeycutt is one of the lead physicians of the neurosurgery program at Cook Children’s Hospital. Aside from his work as a neurosurgeon he is frequently consulted and asked his expert opinion on difficult cases.
He wanted to be a physician since he was too young to remember. But it would not be until well into medical school when he realized that his love of children was perfectly suited for pediatrics.
"I was designed to do this," he says regarding neurosurgery. Aside from bringing honesty, loyalty and compassion to his patients and team, he also brings a firsthand sense of empathy.
When Dr. Honeycutt was 15 he returned home after high school football practice feeling much more fatigued than usual and in an unusual amount of pain. A trip to the emergency room revealed a broken neck. Thus began a long road of recovery including surgery, convalescence and physical therapy. When he speaks to a patient, he brings not only immense expertise, but a wealth of personal and adolescent experience.
Dr. Honeycutt and his wife have three beautiful daughters, all of whose passion is horses; everything from dressage to stadium jumping to eventing. His passion is watching them compete in a sport they absolutely love.
