I knew I wanted to work with children before I was ever called to medicine. Children have such an amazing outlook on life, and they are so entertaining. I first felt that pull towards the medical field when I participated in a mission trip to Tampico, Mexico while I was in college. I had the privilege of helping the medical team one day, and I saw firsthand the deep human need that medical providers were able to meet. This was most evident when a child was ill because there is not a more helpless or desperate feeling as a parent than watching your child suffer. Following that experience, I started volunteering at the OU Children’s Hospital, and I spent as much time as possible observing different aspects of pediatric medicine. At that point, there was no question that I was called to be a Pediatrician, and that this was how I could serve my community.

My son was born during my first year of residency, and after spending 5 days in the NICU, I was finally able to take him home. I experienced firsthand the desperation and worry over the health of one’s own child, and I have not been the same since. Children will change you, and I know my kids have made me a stronger person and a better doctor. Working with children is such a joy, and I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful career!

Outside of medicine, I like to spend time with my husband, my 7 year-old son, and my 4 year-old daughter. We like to fish, swim, read, watch movies, play with our dog and travel. We like to stay involved in Church, and spend time praying and reading the Bible. I also enjoy running, sewing, crafting, shopping, and reading a good book.
