Adult volunteers

volunteerVolunteers make a difference for patients and families at Cook Children's every day by giving the gift of their time and energy in more than 50 departments in the medical center, community clinics and locations throughout Tarrant and Denton County.

Making a difference

Reading books, playing in the playroom, holding babies, directing visitors, educating parents about car safety and helping in the Enchanted Castle Gift Shop are a few ways our volunteers assist staff with providing care to patients and families. Volunteers have a variety of positions to choose from.

Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, out of high school and meet screening and orientation requirements. Volunteer opportunities are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week. Placements are scheduled according to staff requests and the volunteer's availability.

For more details on how you can apply to join our volunteer family, click here.

Thank you for your interest in Cook Children's adult volunteer program. If you are a full-time college student, please do not use this form to apply. Use the college student application.

Volunteer safety

Safety is of the utmost importance in protecting the patients and yourself as you volunteer in the medical setting. Please view the volunteer safety information as part of your training. When you have finished viewing the presentation, please complete the safety review test.

After completing the safety test, you may call or email the volunteer office to set up your orientation date/time.
