Whether you are interested in the medical field or you would like to be part of a program that makes a difference in the lives of patients, being a junior volunteer at Cook Children's offers a very rewarding experience. If you will be between 15-18 years old by June 1, 2013, you should consider volunteering at Cook Children's.
Junior volunteers help families with way-finding, support staff with clerical tasks, keep patients and siblings entertained through play and reading activities, provide much needed breaks for parents, assist with community events and much more. Opportunities to volunteer are available seven days a week, mornings, afternoons and evenings depending on the placement.
The 2013 Summer Program
The 2013 summer program runs Monday, June 10th - Sunday, August 18th. You must be able to commit to one 8-hour shift every week of the 9-week program for a minimum total of 64 hours. (4-hour shifts are available, upon request, for a total of a 32 hour commitment)
Junior volunteers come in the same day and time, once a week, all summer long. Please check your summer schedule to be absolutely sure you can commit to volunteering all summer. If you will be gone more than two weeks during the summer, please do not apply for this year.

Applications for the 2013 summer program must be received between September 1, 2012 and February 1, 2013.
Our junior volunteer onboarding process:
- Junior application received and processed in volunteer office.
- Student contacted by email (by March 1, 2013) for an interview if the application is accepted. Student contacted by mail if not accepted.
- Orientation(s) completed in early May, 2013.
- Placements assigned after orientation(s) are completed. Placement information mailed to student by May 27, 2013.
