Cook Children's 2013 volunteer report

In 2013, Cook Children's volunteers set a new record for the most hours ever given. But the biggest milestone was simply the many smiles they created along the way. Learn more here

Volunteers are an important part of the healing that happens at Cook Children's. Volunteers make a difference for patients and families every day through the gift of their time, energy, and talents.

Volunteers serve in 60 different placements throughout the medical center including surgery, radiology, child life, registration, outpatient specialty and community clinics, and at locations throughout Tarrant County.

Directing visitors, reading books, playing in the playrooms, comforting little ones, educating parents about car safety and helping in the gift shop are just a few ways our volunteers care for patients and families, making a challenging sometimes overwhelming experience better.

Become a volunteer

Volunteer Safety

Safety is of the utmost importance in protecting the patients and yourself as you volunteer in the medical setting. Please view the Volunteer Safety information as part of your training. When you have finished viewing the presentation, please complete the safety review test.

*Please do not take the safety test until AFTER your interview with a Volunteer Program Coordinator.

After completing the safety test, you may call or email the volunteer office to set up your orientation date/time.
