Why Cook Children's SPORTS?

Cook Children's has one of the only pediatric sports medicine programs in North Texas. Our focus is 100 percent on kids. Because children and teens are still growing, the types of hand injuries they experience and time to recover are very different from adults. Our Sports Performance Orthopedic Rehab Team Specialists (SPORTS) have extensive training in pediatric medicine, and work closely with your family and your child's doctor to develop the best plan of treatment. Our goal is to help your child or teen heal and get back to running, throwing, jumping and doing what kids do.

Our team

Cook Children's SPORTS therapists address certain aspects of hand therapy including:

  • Assessing you child's needs while managing the recovery of the injury
  • Prescribing individual therapeutic exercises
  • Providing custom orthotic fabrication when indicated for healing and function
  • Incorporating meaningful therapeutic activities

We coordinate all aspects of your child's ongoing care, with the physician and the family working together. Our team includes:

There is a special emphasis placed on educating your family members and caregivers so that you can participate fully in your child's treatment and carry over the therapeutic plan at home.

At Cook Children's, we recognize that each case, and more importantly – each child and teen, is different, requiring a therapy plan that is designed to help them achieve success and grow toward as much independence as possible.
