The facts about shaken baby syndrome

A shaken baby causes significant harm, ranging from death to long term effects, including: brain damage, blindness, severe learning and behavioral problems, cerebral palsy, seizures, deafness and permanent vegetative state.

It's ok for your baby to cry

For normal, healthy infants crying is a very common occurrence, especially during the first 12 weeks of life. Between 2 and 6 weeks of age a baby's crying steadily increases and can put a lot of strain on parents.

Warning signs a mom may hurt her child

The person who is in the midst of some type of mental health issue likely doesn't know what is or isn't reasonable. Family members, friends, teachers, or other professionals in contact with parents need to step in if they feel a person needs help. A child should not be left alone with a parent in crisis.

Understanding your baby's cries

Your baby may not be able to talk yet, but that doesn't mean he or she can't communicate with you through crying. Babies use cries to let you know many things, including that they are hungry, cold, tired or they want to be hugged.
