Leukemia and Lymphoma

Cook Children’s Leukemia and Lymphoma programCook Children’s Leukemia and Lymphoma program works to improve the lives of young people with leukemia and lymphoma using comprehensive care, research, education and philanthropy.

We understand the importance of working together and that’s how we approach the care of our children. Our staff coordinates care with physicians in other specialties such as physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, nurse and patient educators, social workers, chaplains, child life specialists, licensed clinical therapists, dieticians, clinical research assistants, and quality improvement specialists all of whom meet weekly to discuss our children and young adults with leukemia and lymphoma.

State-of-the-art clinical care is provided to all of our patients through access to the most current national and international clinical trials, as well as supportive and experimental therapies. We are active participants in the Children’s Oncology Group and also participate in the current St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital acute myeloblastic leukemia treatment protocol.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma program also works closely with other specialty programs at Cook Children’s Medical Center, including the Stem Cell Transplantation program, Life After Cancer Program, and Adolescent/Young Adult program. These collaborations ensure that all of the specific needs of our different patients are met by highly trained specialists both during, and following, the therapy for their malignancy.
