Child Life specialists work with children and families to help them cope with the extra challenges of living with chronic illness.
Services available
- Helping patients deal with medical procedures by teaching them coping skills and providing a chance to "play through" situations
- Helping patients better understand their illness or injury
- Coordinating support group opportunities for patients
- Helping patients communicate with classmates and teachers about their experience; helping patients have a more successful school experience
