Cook Children’s Botox clinics are conducted by movement disorder specialists Warren Marks, M.D. and Fernando Acosta Jr., M.D. Botox injections are used to treat a variety of muscle conditions experienced by patients with dystonia, palsy and other neuromuscular disorders by partially paralyzing muscles to improve the patient’s mobility and quality of life.
Botox injections can be administered by our specialists in clinic or in the operating room with anesthesia depending on the needs of the patient.
Pediatric movement disorders are diagnosed through physical examination of the patient, clinical examination of the child’s history and symptoms, neuroimaging and laboratory studies, which may include genetic testing.
