Kids aren't just small adults. Their bones, muscles, and tendons are different. And so is their response to injury and pain … and most importantly, treatment. Cook Children's focuses on the dynamics of a child's growing body, providing the unique care required to help kids, teens and young adults heal and get back to their activities.
With locations in Fort Worth, Hurst and Mansfield, we have state-of-the-art equipment that adjusts to patients ranging from children to young adults. All locations offer individual evaluation rooms and a variety of flexibility, strengthening, plyometric and agility equipment.
Cook Children's offers a unique approach to care for children because we are one of the country's leading integrated pediatric health care systems. Patients benefit from this integrated system because it allows our staff to use all of its resources during treatment. It also improves communication between the various departments whose physicians are focused on caring for children and adolescents.
With extensive education and training in both pediatrics and sports therapy, the SPORTS Rehab team at Cook Children's provides excellent care for kids and teens. The focus of each one of our therapists is to help young people get and stay healthy. Therapists design an individual rehabilitation plan based on your child's condition, growth and physical development. For easy accessibility, our SPORTS rehab specialists are located in three convenient Metroplex locations: Fort Worth, Hurst and Mansfield.
Start by talking to your primary care doctor to find out exactly what care or treatments your child will need. Then ask which program has the best equipment and staff to provide that care. Do some research to learn about the differences between each one and ask your pediatrician for a recommendation. You can also ask friends and family for suggestions because sometimes they have had children sustain an injury and are a great source for information.
All of the physical and hand therapists at Cook Children's are trained in pediatrics and sports therapy. Our team has the ability to help your child progress through their rehab, knowing that their body is still growing so their diagnosis may be different depending on their age; and their treatment requirements may change as their body does.
Patients benefit from Cook Children's integrated system because it allows our staff to use all of the system's resources during treatment. The following departments serve active roles with our SPORTS program:
