Terms and Conditions of Use Policy
The Cook Children's Internet site is an online and communications service and is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have questions about a child's disease, condition or general health, please contact a pediatrician. If your child is ill or injured, please contact your pediatrician or go to the nearest emergency department.
While Cook Children's Health Care System has endeavored to make sure the information contained in this site is accurate, Cook Children's Health Care System cannot guarantee the accuracy of such information, and it is provided without warranty or guarantee of any kind. Material is from medical and clinical research available to the public. Use of this informayion is governed by the terms and conditions of this agreement.

Your privacy
You can visit the CCHCS Web site without submitting any information about yourself. If you send e-mail, respond to a survey or otherwise correspond with CCHCS, then naturally CCHCS will have some of your information such as YOUR e-mail address or name. CCHCS will use this information only for replying to your message or forwarding the requested material. CCHCS does not share this information with any other partners, affiliates or members of Cook Children's Health Care System or with any outside organization.
Information we collect
Personal information is information that can be used to identify or contact you. CCHCS collects only the personal information you provide in the following ways: 1) When you choose to submit an online donation 2) When you send us feedback related to CCHCS site or request information about services 3) When you access the CCHCS site and complete mail-to links or forms that are used to contact CCHCS, such as Jobline! Online response mechanism. These mail-to links and forms collect information you provide in order for CCHCS to deliver requested materials, respond to your questions, or provide related information.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be secure. Please note that your e-mail, like most non-encrypted Internet communications, may be accessed and viewed by other Internet users, without your knowledge or permission, while in transit.
CCHCS employs physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, in keeping with industry standards and best practices, to protect your privacy and personal information. When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information such as financial or health information, CCHCS redirect visitors to a secure server and will notify visitors through a message screen on the site. However, e-mail correspondence is not secured.
Except where specifically requested, CCHCS does not wish to receive personal or other confidential information from you via the Internet.
CCHCS urges YOU NOT TO PROVIDE ANY CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOU OR YOUR HEALTH TO CCHCS VIA ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION.
Non-Personal Information
We participate in online adverting campaigns through a service that allows advertisers and publishers to show online users the most useful and relevant ads online.
We may collect non-personally identifiable information regarding the user’s behavior and usage patterns on advertisements and sites operated by our advertising service provider to better customize the type of advertisements users see on various sites. Non-personally identifiable information may include information such as the type of Internet browser you are using, the type of computer operating system used, the domain name of the website visited, as well as information related to websites and web pages you are viewing when an advertisement is shown.
We collect Non-personally identifiable information through the use of cookies and pixels. No personally identifiable information is collected or used in this process. A cookie is a file on your browser that uniquely identifies your browser. A pixel is a line of code which is used by a Web site or third party ad server to track a user’s activity. The use of a pixel allows our advertising service provider to record that a user has visited a particular webpage along with additional non-personally identifiable information that the website publisher or advertiser may choose to include with the pixel.
We require our advertising service provider to comply with applicable laws governing online privacy and encourage them to publish privacy policies that tell you about how the information they are gathering is being used. We encourage you to always read the privacy policies of the websites you visit to understand issues relating to your online privacy.
The use of cookies by our advertising service providers or tracking utility company is not covered by our Privacy Policy. We do not have access or control over these cookies. These third parties use session ID cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site.
Disclosure of Information to Third Parties
We do not collect personally identifiable information when using an online advertising campaign, therefore, we do not sell, rent, or share personally identifiable information collected on our advertising service provider’s websites to non-affiliated third parties.
We may disclose a user’s information to third parties when we reasonably believe we are obligated to do so by law, and in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual prohibited activities, including, but not limited to, fraud and situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person.
Children's Privacy
CCHCS is committed to protecting the privacy of children. CCHCS supports the Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). For that reason, there is no collection or maintenance of information at CCHCS Web sites from those who have identified themselves as under 13 years of age.
Other Sites
CCHCS privacy policies apply only to your use of the Service. The Service contains links to other sites, including sites that may indicate a special relationship. While CCHCS does not disclose personally identifiable information to those operating these linked sites, CCHCS is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. You should read the privacy policies of each site you visit to determine what information that site may be collecting about you.
CCHCS is not responsible for the content of any linked Web site. If you access or use any third party Web sites linked to CCHCS Web sites, you do so at your own risk. If a third party links to a CCHCS Web site, it does not indicate an endorsement, adoption, authorization, sponsorship, affiliation, joint venture or partnership between CCHCS and that third party. In some cases, CCHCS may not be aware that a third party has linked to the CCHCS Web site.
Cookies and Internet Log Files
A cookie is a small text file stored on your hard disk by a Web site you have visited. Cookies contain information to remind the Web site about you the next time you visit.
The Service does not use any "cookies," but may log the IP addresses of visitors to administer the Service and to diagnose problems. IP addresses are not used to identify individuals. Please note that CCHCS will not intentionally share the contents of any e-mail feedback or comment form with any third party. Cook Children's works every day to help reduce the increasing costs of pediatric care by using our resources more efficiently, cutting costs where we can, and providing preventive care and education in the communities we serve. As a result, we have been able to significantly lower our costs without compromising the quality of care we provide to all of the children and families we serve.
