Attend a class - Community Education

Community Education

For family members and child care workers in our community, the Education Department provides access to health information and training. We offer regularly scheduled classes in Pediatric First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and asthma management. In addition, you can find online information through the Health Library.

Attend a class - Professional Education

Professional Education

For health care professionals, we foster continued growth and development through advanced certification courses, workshops, seminars, and weekly Grand Rounds. Grand Rounds provides up-to-date information and continuing professional education credit on a variety of topics. Many of these presentations become Video Grand Rounds viewable for an additional three years through this website. In addition, from time to time, we also offer workshops or seminars on specific topics such as epilepsy and pediatric trauma.

Collaborating with Region XI Education Service Center, Cook Children’s offers educators in our community distance learning video conferences that teach students about safety and what to expect if a child comes to our emergency or surgery departments. School nurses may also participate in topics of interest to them.

Specifically for school nurses, we offer two School Nurse Symposiums each summer. School nurses receive current information related to diagnosing and treating childhood illnesses such as asthma and epilepsy. They hear from experts on topics such as diet, sports injuries, and when to go to the emergency room.
