The Education Department at Cook Children's offers a variety of American Heart Association courses to meet the needs of health care professionals and the community.

Family and Friends CPR

This course is an introduction to performing cardiopulmonary resusitation on adults, children, and infants. Relief of choking and use of an AED are also covered. This is a non-certification course. HeartCode Courses

Before you register for HeartCode ACLS, HeartCode BLS, or HeartCode PALS, please be sure that your computer is compatible and able to launch the online course. Check compatability now.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not represent income to the Association.

HeartCode ACLS ProviderAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is higher-level course that emphasizes the significance of basic life support (BLS), highlights team dynamics, communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care.
HeartCode BLS Healthcare ProviderBasic Life Support (BLS) is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize severe life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
HeartCode PALS (Part 1 and 2)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is an advanced course using a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency respiratory management, recognition and treatment of shock and/or cardiac arrest.
HeartCode PALS Part 2 Skills Session ONLYCompletion of AHA PALS Part 1 (online course) is mandatory before taking Part 2 (skills check-off), and you must take Part 2 within 60 days of completing Part 1. Keep this in mind as you register for a Part 2 Skills Session.
Heartsaver CPR AED - ClassroomHeartsaver CPR AED is a classroom-based course utilizing AHA instructors and videos, with skills practice and validation.
