Every child experiences pain differently. Whether your child is experiencing pain related to a medical procedure, an injury, or a chronic condition, there is one thing they all have in common, a desire to feel better. At Cook Children's our Pain Management team are experts in diagnosing and treating pain in infants, children, teens and young adults.

Our rapidly growing pain center is quickly becoming one of the leading centers for newborns, children, adolescents and young adults with acute or chronic pain. At Cook Children's, our goal is to work closely with our patients, their families and referring physicians to determine the best plan of treatment for the one thing that matters most: your child's well-being.

Cook Children's is one of the few pediatric facilities in the nation to offer full-service pain management care for children from birth to age 18.

Our focus is on improving your child's quality of life by giving them the tools needed to cope with and overcome pain. Some of our therapy options are medications, interventional pain procedures, medical acupuncture, relaxation therapy, guided imagery, biofeedback, hypnosis and cognitive behavioral therapy. We also teach our patients and families how to manage pain through exercise, diet, lifestyle modifications, and sleep hygiene.

Your child's team is made up of doctors, nurses and therapists with specialized pediatric training. Our Child Specialists are also here to help each child through treatment and help ease their fears and worries. We're also one of the few pediatric pain centers that features its own team of therapy dogs as part of our pain relief care. Studies have shown that interacting with these specially trained dogs can help ease a patient's pain and reduce stress and anxiety for both them and their family.

When you choose Cook Children's Pain Management team for your child's care, you can trust that your child will receive the best care possible.
