What is a nurse practitioner?
A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse who is qualified to treat and diagnose illnesses without the direct supervision of a doctor. They can prescribe medication, treat patients and administer physical exams with the focus on prevention, wellness and education. They take time to listen to patients’ concerns and health, and provide individualized, all-encompassing care.
