Asthma affects nearly 19 percent of children and is the leading cause of missed school days, accounting for nearly 7.5 million days missed yearly.

Asthma is one of the most common diseases referred to a pulmonologist by primary care doctors. The specialists at Cook Children's offer advanced care for kids with asthma. They also provide education to patients, family members and caregivers.

Asthma treatment

Working with primary care doctors, our pulmonologists provide complete care to kids with asthma, particularly high-risk cases. We also work to educate patients and family members on ways to manage his or her asthma.

Cook Children's offers classes that will answer these and other questions about your child's asthma. We invite you to join us! Children 7 years and older, parents, and other caregivers are welcome. Asthma education classes include:

  • Overview: Review asthma symptoms, triggers, medication, asthma action plan.
  • Audience: Parent/caregivers, asthmatic children at least 7 years old.
  • Duration: 1.5 Hours
