Thank you notes
Please know that all the work and effort you are putting forth in the face of this crisis is truly appreciated and impactful.
When notes of support and thanks are shared with Cook Children's, whether from the community, our patients and families, each other or our leaders, this is the place that they will be posted for you.
We hope they will give you the boost and encouragement you may need to continue doing what's best for our patients in a very difficult time.

#FeelgoodFriday: Every employee at Cook Children's is essential. Even through the most difficult times, our team members are showing up for their patients, families and each other. Employees across Cook Children's share words of encouragement in this video. If you would like to pass along your own words of encouragement, we want to hear from you! Email us a note, photo or video to: COVID19Questions@cookchildrens.org. #WeAreCookChildrens
Vicki Kelley, Family-centered Care Program Manager, shared:
We did a virtual focus group with parents today and one of the parents had just been discharged from 3P (ruled out COVID-19.) This mom said that your staff are all “Incredible!” She even felt bad that everyone got so hot in their PPE but were always there to help them when they needed it. She said that one nurse, brunette Courtney, was so empathetic and supportive that she colored with her daughter so that mom could go into the bathroom to cry.
We know that your staff are stressed and working tremendously hard right now. To hear that they also prioritize the emotional health of parents at such a challenging time in their lives is what true family-centered care is.
Our hearts are with you and your staff. Keep up the amazing work!
How do we support one another and stay connected?
Director Christi Thornhill shared:
"In order to protect our teams for the long haul through COVID-19, I split my CARE team/Fostering Health Program staff into an A Team and a B Team last week.
The A Team covered the clinic last Thursday and Friday. The B Team came in this morning to find the poster to the right!"
This is a perfect example of how our teams continue to adapt and stay connected with one another despite the demands that this crisis presents.
It doesn't matter whether you are on the A Team or the B Team, at the end of the day we are all on the Cook Children’s team!
From a parent, our Enchanted Castle Gift Shop was truly magical. Read her words of praise:
"I cannot say enough great things about Joanna in the gift shop. My daughter's 15 year old friend is in the ICU and of course we are all dealing with COVID-19 and not being able to see the family at this time. Joanna was so kind to help me come up with things to have delivered to them not once, but twice. She never made me feel rushed and was very patient to talk me through a 'tour' of the gift shop. She is an angel."
