Meet Dr. Christopher Soares
Before entering dental school, I knew that I wanted to treat children. I believed as a general dentist I would enjoy treating patients of all ages. However, as a general dentist for seven years, I realized that my passion within dentistry was providing positive preventive treatment and shaping pediatric patient's outlook on dentistry. Many adult patients explained they had some residual anxiety from experiences as a child, and it imprinted on me the benefit of providing a positive experience for children within dentistry. This was the impetus for me to return for pediatric dentistry and has been the most fulfilling professional decision.
I attended dental school at University of Connecticut and completed my pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Rochester (NY). It was enlightening to return to residency in the middle of a pandemic and illustrated that challenges of access of care for pediatric patients. Families traveled sometimes three hours one way for treatment, and this awareness impacted how I strive to provide the most comprehensive, patient-centered care for my patients.
I enjoy clinical care, but I am also passionate about teaching. I am currently faculty at University of Connecticut and University of Rochester and I thoroughly enjoying teaching students and residents the clinical components of dentistry as well as the importance of interdisciplinary care. I look forward to continue to educate patients and residents.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, travelling, trivia, and spending time with friends and family. I am always looking for a new state park to visit on weekends!
