Even as a child, Dr. Alicia Gill was drawn to altruistic professions, whether it was wanting to enrich children's lives as a teacher, or help animals as a veterinarian, or save lives as a doctor. But during high school, when several very important people in her life suffered from significant health issues, she knew medicine was her true calling. She was specifically drawn to pediatrics simply because of the patients. "The resilience, honesty and optimism of children are what make my job so enjoyable."
Dr. Gill was born and raised in the Dallas area, and she's glad to be getting back her roots after taking a few detours. She attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate degree, and then went on to Texas Tech for medical school. While she was at Tech she met her husband. Together they ventured out of Texas to the University of New Mexico where they completed their residencies. It during this time that they were also blessed with the births of their two daughters. Dr. Alicia was fortunate enough to take a year off with their girls while her husband was in fellowship. Now, they're happy to be back in North Texas, close to family, and Dr. Gill is very excited to be starting this new chapter of her life as a pediatric hospitalist at Cook Children's.
In addition to her work in pediatrics, most of Dr. Gill's spare time is spent trying to keep up with her two daughters (and husband). They also have two dogs and enjoy spending time outdoors. Like a true Texan, she likes watching football (and pretty much any other sport), so she is glad to be back in Texas where she can finally see some games in person.
