His fascination with anatomy and puzzles led him to the field of orthopedic surgery and opportunity to impact the lives of children led him to specialize in pediatric orthopedics.<br /><br /> Dr. Kennedy has been involved in the mission of Cook Children's to improve the health of every child for many years, from volunteering in the emergency room as a college student, training in orthopaedic residency, and ultimately joining Cook Children's Orthopedic Surgery team after pediatric specialty training at the University of Utah in 2010. As a native of Bridgeport in Wise County and former TCU Horned Frog, he has enjoyed returning home to serve the community that has shaped him.<br /><br /> Restoring both form and function to children with injury or disability and helping them enjoy a more active lifestyle is what Dr. Kennedy feels is the best part of his job. He has a particular interest in sports related injuries, fracture surgery, and reconstruction of lower extremity deformities/disabilities. He has special training in the growth plate sparing techniques for ACL reconstruction.<br /><br /> Dr. Kennedy was an Academic All-Conference student athlete at Texas Christian University while running cross country and track and field. He has continued a lifelong interest in the care of the injured athlete.<br /><br /> The Orthopedic Sports Medicine Program at Walsh Ranch provides the opportunity for Dr. Kennedy and the department to provide treatment of the entire athlete under one roof while Dr. Kennedy's downtown practice continues to focus on lower extremity deformity and disability. He works in a multi-disciplinary approach in the surgical and non-operative treatment of infants to adolescents. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching and watching his children's sports, playing softball, basketball, and guitar.
