Meet Dr. Hemangini Bhakta
Dr. Hemangini Bhakta provides a focus on relieving physical, psychosocial and spiritual suffering for seriously ill infants, children and their families. She is passionate about effective communication and collaboration among the medical team so that families feel supported and well-informed during the shared medical decision-making process.
Dr. Bhakta earned her medical degree at The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences and completed her pediatric residency at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, during which she realized her passion for palliative care. She completed her pediatric hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Nationwide Children's Hospital, where she completed research on the recognition and management of pediatric delirium. She then worked with the palliative care team at Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital, where she also served as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
Dr. Bhakta is excited to join the growing palliative care team at Cook Children's Medical Center. Her clinical interests include pediatric bioethics, complex medical decision-making and end of life care.
