Her pediatrician left such a positive impact in her life that she dreamed of one day building the same relationships with her own patients. She volunteered countless hours with Cook Children's as a junior volunteer during high school as well as a summer counselor at a Cook Children's camp during college. These experiences intensified her desire to go to medical school. It was only fitting that Dr. Spalla would return home to serve the children of Fort Worth as a board-certified pediatrician.<br /><br /> She graduated as Salutatorian from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth. From there she attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a human biology major. She then moved to Lubbock, Texas for medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. After graduating medical school Dr. Spalla returned to Austin for her pediatric residency at the University of Texas at Austin, Dell Children's Medical Center. During residency she was recognized with an award for her humanism in medicine as well as her spirit and joy for life.<br /><br /> Dr. Spalla is passionate about newborn and childhood safety as well as preventative medicine. Advocating for children is also a significant part of her practice. Parental education is dear to her heart, and she truly enjoys counseling and reassuring first time parents at newborn visits. Dr. Spalla works hard at communicating effectively with patients of all ages and it is important to her to build a trusting rapport with her teenage patients.
