Meet Dr. Sandra K. Arca

?I've always loved the "littles" and so enjoy watching them blossom into amazing young adults. I get to sit on the floor, blow bubbles, tell jokes and giggle every single day! I can't imagine doing anything else!

I was born in Dallas and spent all of my childhood in and around Northeast Texas, graduating from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. I received my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. My four years of general medical training were spent at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, and I completed my pediatric internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital. In 1995 I returned home to Northeast Texas and began my general pediatrics practice.

My professional time is spent seeing patients in my clinic and participating in numerous pediatric educational activities and committees, as well as local community activities. I was involved in general pediatric research for several years and was a founding member of the Primary Care Pediatric Investigator Network (PCPIN) at Cook Children's. I recently joined the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor, which will allow me to train new medical students the art of pediatrics in a community setting.

I changed my practice location to Flower Mound after 21 years in Grapevine and am adjusting to being an empty nester.

I've lived in Grapevine since 1995 with my veterinarian husband. We have three magnificent daughters, three dogs and two cats. My personal time is spent reading, attending church and school activities and attending Aggie football games in the fall. I'm an avid photographer and travel as often as I can. I love to meet those from other cultures and learn from their lives and experiences.

I hold an advanced certificate in Biblical Studies from The University of Dallas Catholic Biblical School.

When I was in kindergarten I told my teacher, I was going to be a doctor. As the eldest of three children I grew up caring for my siblings, so studying to be a pediatrician came naturally. – Dr. Arca
