Meet Dr. Jonathan Kaye
Dr. Jonathan Kaye is the Medical Director of Urology at Cook Children's Medical Center in Prosper. As a member of Cook Children's team of world-renowned urology professionals, he offers to the children of North Texas, and beyond, medical and surgical expertise in both common and rare genitourinary diseases and conditions.
Even as a child, Dr. Kaye enjoyed using his hands to create and improve upon things. As he grew up, he began to admire the ability that physicians, including his father, have to make an important and positive impact on their patients' lives. It was the opportunity to combine these two passions that led to his decision to become a doctor. "I realized that a career in surgery would create the opportunity to help others, and today, I take immense satisfaction in helping my patients."
Dr. Kaye considers himself extremely fortunate to be a pediatric urologist. He enjoys the variety of problems he can treat, surgeries he can perform, and the many different types of patients and families he feels honored to meet and help. "It is a privilege to have practiced in DFW since 2010, and I look forward to many more years of doing so."
Dr. Kaye is an Honors Graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, from where he graduated with a dual degree in history and political science. He began his professional life after college as a middle and high school teacher in New York City. He then followed his secret dream of becoming a surgeon by matriculating at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he served as student body president during his senior year.
Dr. Kaye pursued his general surgery internship at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York, and then his urologic surgery residency at the Arthur Smith Institute for Urology, where he was fortunate to learn his craft from many of urology's most important pioneers and innovators. As he was particularly drawn during his residency to the special challenges and rewards of treating and operating upon babies and children, Dr. Kaye decided that it was to pediatric urology that he endeavored to dedicate his career. He therefore pursued fellowship training in pediatric urologic surgery at Emory University/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where he also served as attending pediatric urologist. Dr. Kaye then began his practice in Tarrant County in 2010, and is privileged to continue to serve many of the same children (and their younger siblings!) that he first met in 2010. He is honored to now provide pediatric urologic care in Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, Hurst and Prosper.
Dr. Kaye is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Urology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the Societies for Pediatric Urology. Dr. Kaye is also an active member of the American Urological Association. He has presented his research at local, national, and international conferences, and has authored several textbook chapters and articles in several prestigious peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Kaye is interested in all aspects of pediatric, adolescent and reconstructive urology, with a special interest in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery. He performed the first robotic kidney and robotic bladder surgery on a child in Tarrant County in 2010.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kaye enjoys traveling to new places with his wife and two sons, with whom he lives in Dallas. He is also an avid bicyclist and runner.

Our nurse Sharon was very thorough with care instructions, what to expect during and after my son's procedure, and reassuring to my child's needs/pain level. I am appreciative to the level of care we have experienced here at Cook Children's in Prosper. Dr. Kaye was very informative on how my sons procedure would be done and I felt reassured based on his level of confidence.

Sharon the LVN was so helpful and reassuring. She eased any anxieties about the visit. She advocated for me to ask as many questions to the MD/NNP as needed to ease my concerns. She vocalized personal confidence in the MD/NNP. She eased new patient anxiety. Loved loved loved the NNP. She spoke directly to my child. Educated her on a child's level. My daughter really listened was receptive to the NNP

Everyone was caring and kind from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Shoutout to Nurse S (can't remember if Sharon or Sandra - blonde hair, green eyes). She was great and really connected with us about the procedure and what to expect. She was the first provider we've ever truly believed went over "Informed consent" properly. We truly felt informed by the end of it.
