Dr. Terri Weinman is one of a relatively few physicians in the U.S. who are dual Board Certified in both Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, as well as Pediatric Palliative Care. In 2010, she formed the weeCARE Team, a perinatal palliative care team who meets with families who are expecting to give birth to an infant with a serious, potentially life-threatening or life-limiting medical condition and helps them formulate a plan of care that aligns with their goals and values as a family. She brings a unique, family-centered approach to care in the NICU and strives to help families not only understand their child's medical conditions, but play an active role in the development of a plan of care to ensure their child has the best quality of life possible. She has an active outreach program that brings perinatal palliative care to surrounding communities in North Texas. Her expertise has been sought by other neonatology groups in the United States, and she is a frequent lecturer on the subject of perinatal palliative care and its positive impact on families.

Dr. Weinman received her medical degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 and pursued training in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. After completing her training in 1994, she moved to Chicago to join the faculty of Loyola University. She returned to Texas in 1996 to care for her ailing grandmother and has continued to work as a full-time neonatologist in both Fort Worth and Dallas. She joined Pediatrix Medical Group in Fort Worth, Texas, in April 2000 as a full-time neonatologist.

Since that time, she developed a passion for palliative care and became Board Certified in Pediatric Palliative Care in 2010, adding to her Board Certifications in both Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Weinman has led the way for her group of 30+ neonatologists to incorporate palliative care into their own practice strategies. In conjunction with the local Children's hospital and Lifegift, the local organ procurement organization, she developed a protocol for a specific group of newborn infants to be able to donate their kidneys following their death during the neonatal period.

In conjunction with other subspecialists, she is intimately involved in the development of a Fetal Center in Fort Worth to better serve families during the prenatal period who would benefit from an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach for their unborn child's care.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Weinman enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and reading. She enjoys trying unique exercise platforms and has a black belt in taekwondo.

Dr. Weinman volunteers her time serving on the Board of the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas as well as spending time as an Ambassador of Hope for Lifegift.
