Cook Children's Happy Campers at Home
Hello Happy Campers and their Grown Ups! This spring we used an abundance of caution and made the difficult decision to cancel all of our summer camps through Camps For Kids. This is a collection of 15 different camps that happen at Camp John Marc, Camp Carter, and other sites around Texas. We know it was the correct decision, although it was hard to wrap our heads and hearts around a summer without camp. However, a group of staff from all over the hospital worked together to create a virtual camp for campers who would have participated in Camps For Kids this summer.
Because you have attended a camp as part of Camps For Kids or would have received a camp invitation this summer, we are extending an invitation to your camper to opt into our virtual camp: Happy Campers at Home! If your camper opts into participating they will receive a camper box full of camp swag and supplies needed to complete activities through the summer! You will also be with a link for camp programing that will launch weekly from June 15th- August 10th on Happy Camper at Home’s very on YouTube channel. There will be cooking, arts and crafts, comedy and circus, fun medical education and much more. Your camper can access it whenever is best for them. We are also going to create an interactive Instagram site for campers to participate in polls, share pictures of their creations, share camp memories, and hopefully host a camp talent show! We are also figuring out how to host game shows and other experiences on Zoom.

We know that campers have spent a lot of time on the computer this spring trying to complete the school year. The Happy Camper at Home program is intended to be fun and give campers the chance to engage in fun activities. We don’t expect or want to encourage campers to spend more time on the computer to participate. However, our goal is to create some camp fun for them this summer even when we cannot be at camp.
Important information
Your camper may have been invited to participate in virtual programing through Camp John Marc and/or their specific camp as well. They are encouraged to sign up for this. There is really no such thing as too much camp
Once you have registered we will contact you with more information. If you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out at campsforkids@cookchildrens.org. Have a great summer!
