A child's brain has great capacity to grow and adapt. Yet, it is still vulnerable to internal and external insults that can cause various neurological and behavioral disorders. The mission of the Jane and John Justin Neuroscience Research Center is to better understand pediatric neurological and behavioral disorders that will aid prompt and precise diagnosis and treatment.

Our team consists of well-recognized scientists as well as graduate and undergraduate students from all over the world. Our scientists strive to produce pioneering knowledge on pediatric neuroscience with emphasis on epilepsy and movement disorders. We have several ongoing studies designed to better understand different functions of the child's brain and how these functions deviate from typical development in disease. These studies also facilitate the development of methods, technologies and treatments to alleviate the negative effects of these diseases and in some cases, to cure them. Our mission is aligned with Cook Children's Promise to improve the health of every child through the prevention and treatment of illness, disease and injury.
