Hospitalists specialize in caring for children while they are admitted to our medical center. They help patients and families move toward discharge by following up on tests, adjusting treatments and monitoring progress.

Pediatric surgeons

Children's bodies are not the same as adult bodies. A pediatric surgeon is specifically trained in caring for patients from birth to young adulthood. From minimally invasive procedures to the most complex surgeries, our surgeons handle a wide range of conditions including congenital malformations, head and neck masses, abdominal and gastrointestinal issues, thoracic issues, tumors and malignancies and urological procedures.

Examples of imaging techniques include x-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), interventional radiology (IR) and nuclear medicine. Pediatric radiologists make sure that testing is performed properly and safely. They also interpret the results of the test and make an appropriate diagnosis.

Children require specialized care when it comes to anesthesia. Cook Children's anesthesiologists specialize in giving and managing pediatric anesthetics—the medications that numb an area of the body or help you fall and stay asleep for a procedure. All of our anesthesiologists are board certified in anesthesiology with subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric anesthesia, and some hold additional board certification in other specialties.
