I'm very excited to be part of the Cook Children's Hebron family. I began working with Dr. Rivera and Dr. Beamer in 2008. I received my undergraduate training in biology at the University of Texas at Austin. As an undergraduate, I was a member of the Longhorn Band. After working several years in medical research, I attended the University of North Texas where I received my Master of Science degree, and I attended physician assistant school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
After graduation in 1999, I worked for 5 years in pediatric neurology at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. I also worked in a private pediatric neurology office in Plano, Texas for 4 years. Because of my neurology background, I enjoy seeing patients with neurological difficulties such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), headaches, and behavior issues in addition to general pediatric ailments. Because my goal is to provide the highest quality care to my patients, I attend educational seminars to find the most effective and up-to-date information available.
My family is very important to me. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband. We've been married for 24 years. Considering that my husband is an Aggie and I'm a Longhorn (house divided), this is quite an accomplishment! We also have two sons who are both very active in music (band and choir), and I'm a member of both booster clubs. As an avid exerciser, I'm also involved in many activities such as pilates, yoga, and circuit/interval classes. And you might be surprised to know that I'm also a first degree black belt in taekwondo.
