Many families come from far away to access the world-renowned care found at the Jane and John Justin Neurosciences Center at Cook Children's in Amarillo. That's because they know their kids will have access to some of the most brilliant and kid-friendly medical professionals available.

From the brain to the spine and all the nerves and muscles in the body, the Cook Children's neurosciences team is made up of physicians who specialize in the care and treatment of central nervous system disorders. In addition to our doctors, the care team includes neuropsychologists, nurse practitioners, a dedicated nursing staff and caregivers in other areas such as Child Life, social services, physical therapy and rehabilitative therapy.

When it comes to your child's brain, spinal cord and nervous system, you want the very best team of neurosciences specialists available. As part of our collaborative nature, your family will have access to the full support of a wide array of Cook Children's pediatric specialties including cardiovascular, genetics, hematology and other specialties that might be required to support your child's specific diagnosis. Your child will also have access to state-of the-art testing and diagnostics with a focus on technology that is minimally or noninvasive whenever possible. That means you and your child have the best treatment options and care choices available to help them grow and reach their greatest possible potential. Our office serves kids from zero to young adulthood, and we look forward to serving your family.

Coordinated specialty services: If your child has a more complex medical need requiring additional specialists, we can refer you to nationally recognized teams in the Cook Children's network. We partner with more than 60 other specialty clinics to ensure every child gets the care they need.

Easy access: Our MyCookChildren's patient portal makes it easy to stay in touch. Message your doctors with a question. Schedule an appointment or see test results. You can even send a picture or video for immediate concerns.

Your visit

Prior to your visit, you will want to contact your managed care provider with questions about your insurance coverage, co-payments or deductibles. It's important to know ahead of time what is covered under your policy. Also, if your plan requires that you get an approval or preauthorization, you will need to meet those requirements before you arrive for your appointment so that you don't have to reschedule.

You may be contacted by a patient registration representative with benefit information for your service. Depending on your situation, you may want to meet with someone from our social services department for assistance with financial issues and, if you are coming from out of town, information on transportation and accommodations.
